BFI to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the BFI Film Classics Series

This year BFI celebrate the 20th anniversary of their BFI Film Classics series. To mark this occasion BFI are publishing special anniversary editions of 12 titles from the series, with individual front covers designed by a range of illustrators, designers and artists whose work they admire.
BFI Film Classics is a series of finely written, illustrated books which honour landmark films of world cinema. The series includes a wide range of approaches and critical styles, reflecting the diverse ways we appreciate, analyse and enjoy great films.
BFI have launched a competition, in association with Creative Review, for the anniversary cover of Don’t Look Now to be designed by a UK art school student – see the Creative Review website for details.

“The Art of Fairmont in the British Suite”

To celebrate the opening of the British Suite, the Heritage Salon will be held in the original wood-panelled British Suite on October 28th, and will feature British sculptor, Su Blackwell to present The Art of Fairmont paper sculpture using deliberately un-complex materials like paper and age-old techniques of cutting, folding and gluing to create works of exquisite detail and complexity.
